ECM: Nuove regole, crediti e bonus per il triennio 2023-2025

Dear colleague,

There are updates regarding continuing ECM education for the 2023-2025 three-year period. The National Agency for Regional Health Services (Agenas) has published two new resolutions regarding the transfer of credits and training on vaccines.

Resolution 06/2024:

• Extends the deadline for credit transfer, now allowed until December 31, 2025
  

How to check and transfer credits?

To check your credit status and to transfer credits, you must access the Co.Ge.A.P.S. (Consortium for the Management of the Registry of Health Professions) website. If you are not yet registered, you can do it HERE, you must have SPID (if you do not have SPID, click HERE).

News for the 2023-2025 three-year period:

• Training requirement: 150 credits to be obtained by December 31, 2025
• At least 60 credits (40%) must come from ECM events provided by accredited providers

Bonus:

• 30 ECM credits: By creating the Training Dossier
• 50 ECM credits: Healthcare professionals who worked during the health emergency
• 32 ECM credits: Professionals who worked on drug trials
• Up to 90 ECM credits: Individual training (up to 60% of the three-year training requirement)

Methods for acquiring credits:

• ECM events from accredited providers: At least 60 credits (40%)
• Other activities:
  • Scientific research activities: Scientific publications, Individual tutoring, Individual training activities abroad, Self-training
• Credit request: Through your reserved area on the Co.Ge.A.P.S. portal

Exemptions and Waivers:

• Exemptions: Entitle you to credits for suspension of activity or incompatibility with ECM use. Valid for maternity/paternity leave, illness, etc.
• Waivers: Reduce the individual training requirement by one third per year. Valid for attending degree courses, managerial training courses, etc.

What the law says about continuing education:

Continuing education is a deontological duty for all healthcare workers. It is essential to ensure the quality of care and patient safety. Professionals who are not compliant with 70% of ECM credits risk not being covered by insurance in case of litigation.
