Orthopedics reorganization: Nursing Up denounces the actions of Ausl and Rizzoli A bomb has exploded in the Bologna healthcare scene. The Ausl of Bologna and the Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute, in a move that surprised everyone, in a climate of total silence and without providing clear details, announced a radical reorganization of the orthopedic service, cwith the transfer of an entire business branch to Rizzoli. The decision, presented as a solution to reduce waiting lists, was communicated without adequately informing unions and professionals, raising numerous concerns and criticisms, fueling doubts and perplexities. As a union, we have decided not to act impulsively. Before expressing judgments or simply advertising in newspapers, Nursing Up preferred to conduct investigations to understand the reality of the facts. We conducted an in-depth analysis to understand the real implications of this move and who will suffer the most consequences. The decision will involve hundreds of professionals, nurses and OSS, working in the orthopedic departments of the Maggiore and Bentivoglio hospitals, as well as in the territorial offices of Porretta Terme, San Giovanni in Persiceto, Budrio and various clinics. The issue therefore concerns not only communication, but also the lack of respect for the fundamental principles of union bargaining and respect for professionals. Ausl and Rizzoli acted like private companies, ignoring the need for transparency and dialogue. It is essential to discuss in advance any wage changes, worker mobility, seniority, career progression and much more. Nursing Up, as already done with other companies in Emilia, is ready to activate its legal team and, if necessary, take Ausl and Rizzoli to court, without empty threats in the newspapers. This reorganization was not agreed upon with the social partners and does not take into account the needs of the staff. It is a top-down decision that risks having disastrous consequences.” Nursing Up does not intend to give up: “it will defend the rights of our members to the end. We demand transparency, dialogue and respect for workers.” On August 8, 2024, there will be a bargaining session, and probably others will follow. This situation requires attention and concrete actions to ensure that workers' rights are respected and that the decisions made are in everyone's interest, not just a few. We invite all citizens and workers to closely follow the developments of this story and to support the fight for quality public healthcare tailored to patients. Stay tuned for further updates.
