Wednesday, March 29 at 10:00 am in Piazza Castellani, in front of the Ministry of Health, nurses, midwives, and all healthcare professionals will gather to protest and to deliver a document to the politicians who matter.
Even the Cavaliere, Senator Andrea Crisanti, spoke out on social media:Nurses are one of the categories that suffer the most from the inconsistencies and injustices of our National Health System.
They are the ones who, alongside doctors, ensure the operation of our hospitals, with increasingly grueling shifts, resulting in an alarming number of professionals leaving the field, all to the benefit of private healthcare.
Nurses are an essential component of our NHS, whose role has not been adequately recognized and valued for too long.
It is in all our interests that their demands are supported.
I am also in favor of nurses, when called to assist doctors in intramoenia activities, receiving proper financial recognition.
An uphill road, but one that will have all my support.
Laura Rita Santoro, Regional Nursing Up Lazio: I thank the Senator for his support. We want to open a constructive dialogue! We want to be part of a revolution that will bring benefits to healthcare personnel, but above all, to the citizens, ...but also to the politicians who will grasp its effectiveness.
Mirko Marzullo, nurse, Movimento Marzullo: after Sanremo we take to the streets in Rome to raise awareness and inform the public and politicians about our real working conditions... from the chronic staff shortages that lead to constant skipping of holidays and rest days, to salaries below the OECD average, 15,000 euros less than our European colleagues, disproportionate to the cost of living. Problems present both in the public and private sectors, in addition I would like to add that in the private sector there are often less favorable contracts compared to the public one, and we healthcare professionals, all of us, want a single national basic contract, perhaps giving virtuous companies the opportunity to propose improved contracts.
Vincenzo Parisi, nurses outside the sector:
Many international evidences, unheeded, tell us that 1 nurse per 6 patients reduces deaths, hospital infections from antibiotic resistance and brings savings of millions of euros (dressings, antibiotics)Investing in healthcare professionals means investing in the health of the nation. We must make this profession attractive.
Many of us with children and a single-income family cannot make it to the middle of the month, then forced to go into debt in the face of any unexpected event that life brings. This is not normal in a country that calls itself civilized.
We look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow
