Dear colleagues, are you ready for a new healthcare 4.0 metaverse version? In Italy, the first metaverse hospital has been created and is dedicated to doctors, nurses, and hospital staff from Brescia and Bergamo. But we are not the first to invest in the metaverse. Just think that in 2021 the American defense spent 20 billion on the metaverse, chased by China and Russia. Even special sensors and transducers are able to make a soldier in training feel the pain of a wound, a jammed weapon, the experience of rescuing a comrade under enemy fire. Students from many American and Israeli medical universities can already experience firsthand a surgical operation conducted by a professor. Interns who can then replicate the procedure at zero risk. In the surgical field, the metaverse also integrates with robotic technologies making procedures less and less invasive. Thanks to AI, it will be possible to predict an organ's response to a certain drug therapy, to a certain treatment. In short the potential is infinite and applicable to any field. The metaverse will change our lives, foreign medical and nursing students already use applications with AI-generated algorithms (artificial intelligence) and are able to simulate patients with different pathologies, practicing in the diagnostic and therapeutic fields as in real life. An ecosystem between reality and artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality? The process of change is now imminent. The world in 5 years and even more in 10 years will no longer be as we know it today. According to virtual marketing analysts, in 2026 about 25% of people in the world will spend at least one hour a day in the metaverse, while in 10 years it will dominate the global economy. Telemedicine will be surpassed in less than 5 years by virtual consultations in the metaverse, where professors from various nations, cities, hospitals will be able to meet with the hospitalized patient. Artificial intelligence (AI) software increasingly powerful every day, thanks to AI itself, allow the holographic reconstruction of reality. At the Bascom-Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, a researcher has developed personal glasses capable of detecting the patient's visual response. In 2020 the World Health Organization used augmented reality to train in real time about 20,000 healthcare workers worldwide to fight covid-19. For now, the technology is based on 360-degree headsets, VR technology, (in the future we will probably get to implanted microchips) that can take a student inside the human body, providing 3D models of anatomy, showing the behavior of a pathology, a virus, etc. Imagine having to go to a job interview comfortably from home, talking in the metaverse with your child's teacher, going to the bank or your union (in the metaverse office), or interacting with a family member miles away. Virtual clinics, augmented reality surgeries, universities: the relationship between metaverse and healthcare is already a reality. The Metaverse, if used well, could become a great opportunity for human beings, it could overcome language differences, build new economies based on the shared distribution of value. For now, it is an application called Meta-hospital that allows patients to access healthcare through VRO activity without leaving home and benefit from services, consultations where physical contact is not needed, request tests, etc.
For the moment it is only a prototype and can currently accommodate up to 500 people at the same time, patients identified at entry and exit with staff Biometric Avatar and through recognition and access key with NFC technology.
