The Mayor of Battipaglia summons Nursing Up with Dr. Mirko Marzullo to discuss, compare ideas, and seek a solution to the serious staff shortage that can no longer be postponed.
The Mayor, together with Nursing Up, sides with healthcare professionals, urging the ASL and the Campania Region to take the necessary measures to address the intolerable staff shortage.
Among the proposals put forward by Nursing Up, in addition to stabilizations, new competitions, and public notices, is that of eliminating the exclusivity constraint.
To tackle the Covid emergency and vaccinations, the exclusivity constraint was temporarily removed, but this is not enough.
Nurses are scarce in the public sector and even more so in the private sector, and salaries are, to say the least, “offensive” disproportionately low compared to the risks, responsibilities, and workload.
By eliminating the exclusivity constraint, which must be done by Parliament, it would be possible not only to help healthcare professionals supplement a salary that is well below the OECD average but also to give significant support to both public and private healthcare (many at risk of closure due to lack of staff), while waiting for new hires.
