Addio al Pontefice che ha posto l'accento sul ruolo cruciale degli infermieri

Il Papa che ha riconosciuto il valore dei professionisti della Sanità...

Jorge Mario Bergoglio, born on December 17, 1936 in Buenos Aires, known to the world as Pope Francis, passed away today, April 21, at 7:35 am. The official announcement was made by Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Bishop of Rome.

The whole world mourns the loss of the 266th Pope of the Catholic Church, a man who was able to touch the hearts of millions of faithful with his humility, his closeness to the least, and his tireless work of Christian witness. "At 7:35 this morning, Pope Francis returned to the house of the Father," declared the Cardinal, moved.

Pope Francis has always shown deep attention towards nurses, midwives, and all health professionals. With words full of affection, he called us “saints next door” and “good Samaritans,” recognizing our profession as a precious and irreplaceable mission for humanity.

During his pontificate, he repeatedly drew attention to the social and economic value of our work, emphasizing the urgency of proper recognition, not only in moral terms but also economic ones. For Pope Francis, caring for the sick was not just a healthcare task, but an act of compassion, listening, and closeness, in line with the Christian mission of bending over suffering humanity.

In one of his reflections, he recalled the biblical figures of Shiphrah and Puah, the midwives of Exodus, true pioneers of caring, examples of courage and dedication.

Today, nurses, midwives, and all health professionals unite in mourning, remembering with gratitude the Pope who was able to see, understand, and value their daily commitment with rare sensitivity.

With hearts full of respect and gratitude, Nursing Up Emilia-Romagna bids farewell to Pope Francis, spiritual guide and beacon of hope, who illuminated the path of those who, every day, choose to serve life.
