Uno stipendio OCSE è attrattivo...

At this historic moment, FNOPI, Aran, politicians, managers and some unions are proposing solutions to make the nursing profession more attractive which, in our opinion, do not address the real needs of the category.

Among the proposals we find:

  • Increase in responsibilities and training
  • Elimination of the university admission cap
  • Creation of new professional roles to make up for staff shortages
  • Establishment of new master's degrees (that's fine but it's not the priority)
  • Hiring of nurses, midwives and OSS from India (over 50,000)

But is this really what we need? Is it really what we want?

I am convinced that these proposals are superficial solutions that will not solve the structural problems that plague our profession. Honestly, I feel mocked by the institutions, I don't know about you.

Wouldn't what I list below be more attractive?

  • OECD average salary
  • Exclusivity allowance (like doctors)
  • Strenuous profession and early retirement
  • Free mobility, no more authorizations required
  • Single national public/private contract (further contracts allowed if they are improvements and not worsening)
  • Negotiation outside the sector with funds dedicated only to us healthcare professionals
  • Recognition and benefits as abroad for professionals and students

I categorically reject the idea that "there is no money". Every year, billions and billions of euros are allocated for expenses that are not always a priority (tanks, planes, submarines, works of dubious usefulness), while for health and for those who protect it, resources are always scarce.
