Violence against nurse in Cervia: enough words, we need safety! A 30-year-old nurse attacked with a knife and kicked and punched during a robbery. Yet another episode of violence against those who dedicate their lives to caring for the sick, this time in Cervia, in the Ravenna area. A young man, still unidentified, did not hesitate to brutally attack the colleague, just to steal her purse which he then threw away. Unheard-of violence. Not just the robbery, but also kicks, punches and shoves that left deep marks on her body and, above all, on her psyche. A trauma that adds to the fear and indignation for an attack that happened while she was on her way to work, a place that should be safe for everyone. Enough words of condemnation! We need concrete and decisive action from everyone: politicians, law enforcement and citizens. What is Politics doing? Law enforcement? In 2023 there were over 16,000 reports of assaults, data from the National Observatory on the Safety of Health and Social Health Professionals (ONSEPS). Being attacked for 1600 euros a month then... Nursing Up strongly denounces what happened: "We can no longer tolerate these acts of violence against those who work to protect our health. We demand zero tolerance against the violent, exemplary punishments and above all concrete measures to guarantee the safety of healthcare professionals." The violent ones must be rendered harmless, whether they are Italian or foreign, violence has no color, no race: only pain. We can no longer remain inert in the face of these attacks. A common commitment is needed to create a safe working environment for those who dedicate their efforts every day to assisting the sick. We need decisive action on several fronts: More police presence in healthcare facilities and surrounding areas. Investments in adequate video surveillance systems. Awareness campaigns for respect towards healthcare professionals. Harsh penalties, zero tolerance, for those who commit acts of violence against healthcare workers. Million-euro compensation for damages We can’t wait any longer! The safety of our nurses, doctors and all healthcare staff is not optional, it is a fundamental right. #StopViolence #HealthcareSafety #NursingUp #Cervia
