Once again, Italian politics proves it does not understand the real needs of the National Health Service (SSN). Instead of investing in human resources and valuing healthcare professionals, it proposes to solve the shortage of nurses with staff from the Third World, with medical residents, and by offering working conditions on the verge of exploitation. We do not agree and we will not stand for it! Minister Schillaci even talks about new tasks to make the profession attractive, not money, tasks. Nurses are not mere executors of tasks, but graduates, competent and qualified professionals who play a fundamental role in the care and assistance of patients. To claim otherwise, as Italian politics has done for years, shows a profound ignorance of the reality of nursing work. Again, the Minister says that nurses are lacking throughout Europe, but Europe not only pays them handsomely, but gives them benefits (housing, master's degrees, plane tickets, etc.) that in Italy we can't even dream of. Europe attracts us, not Italy. It is a fact that Italian nurses are emigrating en masse to other European countries, where they are adequately paid, enjoy better working conditions, and a more solid welfare system. Instead of competing with starvation wages and crushing workloads, the government should invest in its own internal workforce. Enough with empty promises! To solve the exodus of nurses, concrete actions are needed: Salary increases: adjust salaries to the European average, recognizing the value and responsibility of the nursing profession. Improvement of working conditions: reduce workload, guarantee the right to training and rest, fight against job insecurity. Professional recognition: recognize the autonomy, missing rights and responsibility of nurses, expanding their duties and actively involving them in the management of the SSN. We are not willing to sell out our professionalism! If the government does not intervene promptly, Italian nurses will be forced to take to the streets to defend the dignity of their profession. Wake up colleagues! It is the only way to achieve a change of course and force politics to listen to our legitimate demands. No one will fight in our place. Let us unite and make our voices heard: the health of our country depends on us! We invite all citizens to support our protest. The defense of the SSN and the dignity of nursing work is a battle that concerns everyone.
