ANGELI IN TERRA MA SENZA ALI

On the most beautiful day for us nurses, we are honored to publish a beautiful poem by a colleague and poetess who kindly allows us to do so.

In this long period of “suspension” and waiting that has not allowed space for the freedom to run in the fields, leaving instead time to reflect on how precious and irreplaceable our work is, our voice has never been so strong.

This enormous tornado that has shaken the world raising us to the level of Angelic Heroes may from now on grant us the proper recognition within our State.

Our voices in a single great voice, a tribute to our work in every part of the world!

The work participated in a literary competition and will be published in a collection of works by contemporary authors published by the publishing house “Pagine” of Rome in the coming months


ANGELS ON EARTH BUT WITHOUT WINGS

We are covered hands reaching out to help, voices that animate a now silent film,
“astronauts” in search of new lands, we offer help but hate wars
Angels on earth but without wings, we change every day while staying the same…
we are stories online between screens and TV, we were there yesterday but even more today!


We are lives in the press from every part of the world,
“frontline heroes” with deep hearts
we are choirs on the radio of veiled voices,
verses remade and then reinvented
anthems on the balcony of every flag
to be sung in unison at the close of day.


Against anger and violence we raise barriers
instead of helmets we wear visors,
we bow our heads but never our guard
we wield patience as a brake on anger...


From the cities of every one of our countries
be it Lombard, Emilian or Abruzzese
even if distant we support each other
and hope for a better tomorrow.


We are not angels nor heroes of the two worlds
We are men and women with deep hearts
We will win the challenge with yet another monster
We will return to reclaim what is ours…


But while waiting for this victory
So that hope is not illusory
Do not belittle our work,..
Wait until the danger has passed!


Nurses as always, neither Saints nor heroes
we continue to fight for all of you,..
trusting in the day when these qualities
belong to us and no longer to UNKNOWN SOLDIERS
