Questo emerge l’ennesimo anno di fila...

This emerges, for yet another year in a row in the United States, from a study published on the website of Gallup, the American Institute for Statistical Research and Public Opinion Analysis . Since Gallup has been publishing the statistics, since 1999, only once have nurses been beaten by another profession, by firefighters after September 11, 2001, and we can well understand why. The research shows that more than eight out of ten Americans (about 82%) describe nurses' ethics as "very high" or "high"

Nurses maintain a healthy lead as the most honest and ethical profession, for a full 18 years in a row.

Behind nurses, well behind there are 21 professions, among which doctors rank well, third, even if with only 65% compared to 85% for nurses.

Let us remember that nurses in the United States have a much higher salary than in Italy, which we are almost ashamed to mention; certainly in the United States it is proportional to the cost of living, unlike what happens in the "Bel Paese" where a nurse who is the head of the family with a housewife wife cannot even make it to mid-month without double and triple somersaults... (a totally Italian shame).

We at Nursing Up, led by our President Dr. Antonio De Palma have repeatedly shouted at the "decision-making tables" the situation and difficulties of nurses in Italy. Not like someone shouting into the wind for propaganda but without official feedback, just making fun of colleagues.

Only in the last six months there have been more and more requests from Nursing Up to the political class and those with decision-making power. 

The most important we recall are October 16 at the first Symposium, September 5 at the Senate but also in the joint commission, several times our President has requested the extension of the rankings of eligible candidates and the unlocking of turnover, foreseeing that quota 100 would worsen the already serious nursing shortage in the NHS.

Nursing UP has officially requested:

. - The transition to category E for all nurses and for health professionals belonging to the health profiles under law 42/1999
- Freelance practice
- Exclusivity allowances
- The introduction, regulation and remuneration of the Institute of Consultancies
- Career progressions for expert functions, with structured assignments in the organic roles of companies and specific non-absorbable professional allowance
- Category ES for specialists, with structured assignments in the organic roles of companies
- Category F for coordinators and with provision for higher-level skills
- The revision of allowances and the organization of organizational assignments outlined by the Ccnl May 23, 2018
- The recognition of skills acquired in the field by nurses and other professionals under law 42/1999 with the following alternative methods:

– The right of every professional, after the fifth year of service without demerit, to obtain a tribute to the particular competence acquired, through a specific professional competence allowance, fixed and recurring, integrated annually during decentralized bargaining

– The recognition, similar to what already happens for doctors, of a healthcare specificity allowance equal to €400 per month, an instrument through which the profound differences of health professions compared to other Public Administration employees are acknowledged and valued
- The complete revision of contractual allowances of existing health professions, which have been unchanged since the last century (e.g. the night allowance is paid €2.74 gross per hour, scandalous ), with homogenization compared to the economic treatment of health managers
- The contractual recognition of professionals involved in training, both in the sector and as managers, with contractual recognition and stabilization of those who have been assigned for years to universities with teaching, tutoring and management roles. 
Sorry if that's not much.

Our top Executives have collaborated for the drafting of the new DDL, Provisions regarding freelance intramural activities of health professions referred to in law February 1, 2006, no. 43. Amendments to law August 3, 2007, no. 1. 

The others? Some absolute silence, others some empty advertising announcement in newspapers or on social media but always without official feedback. 

The situation in Italy is so critical that we do not understand how some trade unions are not worried. We move forward seriously with our heads held high, the chatter, the stadium cheering we leave to others because without it you get nowhere.
