Siamo diventati apatici nei confronti di noi stessi.

Regret
by Dario Porcaro, RSU Nursing Up Ausl Romagna

Today we participated in the assembly of OPI Rimini members, a consolidated annual event regarding the presentation and subsequent vote on the 2019 budget forecast of a non-economic public body.
A well-known jurist at the national level was invited to illustrate some aspects of the new collective contract that directly concerns us, both regarding coordination and what is commonly referred to as the "base." If I am wrong, someone correct me, but among the audience of members (not belonging to the OPI board), there was not a single coordinator, so despite a significant number of nurses qualified for coordination functions, this afternoon no one showed up, neither to listen nor to dispute what was expressed in the new CCNL.
It is fair to ask why, even though the content of the contract undermines at its root the independence of the managerial role that these nurses have, no one, I want to emphasize, NO ONE, showed up to support an opposing idea or to express favorable opinions. Why? Probably, one would think, because everything is going extremely well as it is, I keep my coordination role, forgive the deliberately polemical digression, I have kissed in the past and continue to kiss today the butts that allow me to have a positive annual review and so I can continue to be the coordinator of my operational unit.
The second part of the talk concerned the so-called "base," of which I am also a part. Here too, sporadic attendance as if the contract did not concern us directly, we let others take care of it, tell us the more or less pleasant contents while leaving out the crunchier parts. This is the current state of our profession. To those who are part of the OPI Rimini board, no one asked to commit themselves in this sense, we do it in the exercise of our absolute freedom, commitment and dedication to a spirit of service that, however, finds absolutely no feedback among colleagues that would justify it. Not because we seek objective feedback and applause, but a motivation that can find support and new energy in its exercise. All this is missing.
We have picked up some polemical veins from those who feel the need to return to the crest of "shame," we have suffered cyber attacks on our website and in this sense we are following the recommendations of the postal police and recklessly continue in the desire to carry on and complete our mandate. Disappointment, yes, there is on my part, because for all the efforts made so far by all the board colleagues and the auditors, the sowing has not brought the hoped-for harvest. The evangelical passage from Luke 7,31-35 comes to mind: "To what then shall I compare the men (the nurses) of this generation, what are they like? They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling to one another:We played the flute for you and you did not dance:we sang a dirge and you did not weep!"
Whatever is done, put into action, materialized, is not able to generate anything, we have become apathetic towards ourselves and as long as nothing changes (complaining assiduously and continuously) we let that stagnant and now putrid water find no outlet to flow away and leave us for good.

The popular saying goes that those who are the cause of their own misfortune should cry for themselves. But we are not even doing that, we are not even able to cry for ourselves, as we are unable to see ourselves as we really are.
Dr. Dario Porcaro
