Dear colleague, to get out of this deadlock we must unite and focus on building a better future for all healthcare professionals. The old unions that have ruled for 40 years have failed. Every year they announce victories, successes, more money for everyone, but the results are plain for all to see: purchasing power is less and less effective, salaries below the OECD average, increased stress, burnout, risks and responsibilities. The public takes out their frustration over long waiting lists and medical errors on us, who, like them, are just victims of a rotten system, but from the outside they can't know that. We used to have the most envied NHS in the world, today it's a sieve. Together, we can create positive change in the world of healthcare. This concern is justified: Nursing Up has already gained considerable support among nurses, midwives, physiotherapists, technicians and also OSS and its popularity continues to grow. What can we do to change the game? The answer is simple: unite and act together. We must spread the word about Nursing Up, bring 51% of RSU support to the only union that in recent years has been working hard for professionals, but with only 7% of the support, against the entire union and managerial world, often political, it's difficult. We must raise awareness among colleagues to follow the path set by doctors and join Nursing Up and its advantages, and convince our colleagues to join us for a better future. Together, we can make a difference. One step at a time, we can build a union that truly represents our interests and fights for our rights. Politics only looks at the numbers, the money is there, we just need to convince politicians to spend less on war and useless works and more on healthcare professionals. Scientific evidence says: that more nurses means less antibiotic resistance, fewer killer bacteria, less public spending.
Have you noticed that the historic union acronyms have recently started talking more often about nurses, OSS, midwives and, above all, about money? There is a very specific reason behind this change, in 2025 there will be the RSU elections, and these traditional unions fear that healthcare professionals will follow the example of doctors, flocking en masse to a single category union: Nursing Up.
