Dear Politicians

Subject: we are called heroes, sometimes we are defined as the backbone of healthcare but

during elections, ...then?

I am writing this because I am evaluating appalling situations. We are called heroes, as in the subject, during elections we would be the backbone of healthcare, but then in reality, we are on the sidelines of any social or economic achievement.

I have received numerous letters or calls from colleagues who have been stuck in their economic band for many years, with no hope of advancement.

It often happens that healthcare professionals in band “D”, in the Lazio Region, are required to have degrees, constant training, first and second level master's degrees, a master's degree, but when the ranking is drawn up, they are often penalized.

I studied the rankings, put the data in columns, counted how many people were present in each band, then counted how many moved up a band for each category, and calculated the percentages. 

The data turned out to be embarrassing.

The peculiarities between categories are strongly different, not to mention the responsibilities, but in reality, there are categories that have moved up a band for 98 - 50% of their members, while colleagues in band D have had recognition of the higher band in 9 – 10 – 20 % of cases.

After the first accusation of discrimination in the allocation of bands, I asked for more data, more rankings, but many invoked privacy laws. 

The rankings were no longer downloadable. Nevertheless, thanks to collaboration among colleagues, I was able to analyze and document what I attach and can document. (A small part)

Obviously all this does not gratify any colleague such as nurses or midwives. Keep in mind that colleagues in band D are required to take out insurance, undergo constant and continuous training, which penalizes them if not fulfilled. 

We are talking about healthcare professionals who may have to answer for their actions before a judge. How many employees in the sector, belonging to other economic bands, might have to answer before a judge? 

I would hope that everything I have written would be recognized and result in financial recognition.

Nurses, for example, despite having different responsibilities, are evaluated together with porters, administrative staff or others, even though their commitment should be celebrated in a very different way. Without underestimating anyone, when going to the market, can you pay the same for fine fruit and vegetables? 

This is one of the many reasons why, as a nurse, I would like to be able to leave the sector.

Unfortunately, I am not yet able to document the activities of healthcare professionals in the private sector, but we are working on it. In the private sector, we have numerous contracts, from AIOP,

Confindustria, Don Gnocchi, freelancers with VAT numbers, etc. Although in the public sector, nurses are classified in category “D”, in the private sector, but also in INPS (if I remember correctly, or if nothing has changed), nurses are in category “C”. 

 Salaries, as well as the activities of colleagues, are a dark side, not a surprise, since I myself have experienced such episodes. In the private sector, at least in the Lazio region, colleagues cannot join the union they appreciate the most. 

The choice of union should be like the choice of religion, everyone should be able to pray to the God they find most suitable!

How to prove it? How many unions are present in the private sector? Is it possible that no one ever, if they choose to join a union, never chooses anything different from the confederal unions? All eager for the usual acronyms?
